I like to see them in as original form as possible. Yes, let's hope for more releases of old games. Maybe there is a mod somewhere that replaces the graphics with something more user-friendly (like that excellent mod someone did for Guns of August)? What where they thinking? Still it seems like an overall win with all the small ui improvements (like not having to manually load up units in trucks before moving, and then manually unload at the beginning of next turn, or the full-screen move). The tanks and artillery units when rotated to some angels all look the same. You can't tell a pioneer or bridge unit from regular infantry without hovering the mouse over their hex for instance.
That all infantry units share the same exact graphics doesn't help (and that btw includes cavalry). The simple clean 2D graphics of the older game are much easier on the eyes. Maybe they look in some 1997-ish way a bit prettier, but they are fuzzy and units very difficult to see. My first impression after playing one scenario is that the UI has been improved, but the graphics are much much worse than before. I never played PzG2 before, but a lot of PzG.
